We are holding open auditions for Into the Woods on Saturday, 29th March at the Athenaeum Warminster!
A musical comedy written by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine promising a dark and humorous twist on the classic Brothers Grimm fairy tales.
Performance dates | 12th to 16th August 2025 (5 performances)
All roles will be cast to adults (amateurs or retiring professionals!) and those in School Years 12 and 13.
Cast commitment
We rehearse weekly on Thursday evenings at 7.30pm to 10pm (latest) and Sunday mornings 10.30 am to 1pm, with Tuesday evening rehearsals available on demand if needed for extra singing rehearsals!
Please download the draft rehearsal schedule to see a list of all dates you will be required to be in attendance.
(Make sure to list any conflicts on your audition application form. Conflicts won’t necessarily preclude you from being cast in the show.)
What’s the cost to join?
There are no annual membership fees. Instead, you only pay a performance levy if you are cast in the show.
For "Into the Woods," the performance levy is £30. Additionally, you will need to provide a £25 deposit at the first rehearsal to borrow a copy of the script/libretto. This deposit will be returned to you when you safely return the script at the end of the rehearsal period. Please remember to use a soft pencil for any markings and to erase them before returning the script.
If the show fees make it difficult for you to participate, please let us know—we're more than happy to help whenever we can!
*You’ll also need to supply your own personal accessories: e.g. Make-up, stage shoes, white/nude coloured underwear, socks/tights, dance bras/shorts (if applicable) etc. A list of items will be provided for each cast member.
Everything else is supplied for you!

You can audition for more than one character.
We’re excited to see your potential rather than expecting you to deliver a perfectly polished performance right away!
No need to stress; we know Sondheim can be a challenge. The good news is that we’ll have plenty of rehearsal time over the next four months to really refine everything!
During auditions, what matters most to us is your passion, enthusiasm, and a willingness to put in the effort and trust the process. We can’t wait to see what you bring!
